The cross border area on the Hungarian Romanian border geographically can be considered as a single region. There are common problems in this region: the economy is lagging behind, therefore it is a common objective to increase economic growth and the quality of life. One of the most promising sectors of economy is tourism, since there are outstanding tourist attractions in both counties. However, these attractions are not widely known by the general public. The number of tourists can be increased by intensive joint PR activities. The region has a rich built environment, with outstanding historic buildings and medieval churches. These potential tourist sites are less attractive one by one, but can be successfully promoted if organized in an integrated package. Growing number of tourists can bring income for the operators of these sites and the whole region as well. The primary objective of the project is to consider the 30 medieval churches tourism potential into one package and promote this package jointly on both sides of the border. Most of the churches are planned to be renovated in the near future with government funds. The general objective of the project is increase the attractiveness of tourist destination of Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg and Satu Mare counties by joint PR activity. Target groups: arts and sciences experts, who are involved in the project (40 people); owners of the churches (religion groups) who are interested in increasing the promotion and the knowledge of their assets; personnel of churches (2 people each), who are interested in the promotion of the churches; interested people and visitors: 200 visitors at each church and 1000 visitors of the homepage; The main specific activities and results of the project are: 6 workshops; 1 scientific two-day conference; 1 closing conference; 1 study with illustrations, translations
