On behalf of the Managing Authority let me welcome you to the ninth issue of the Newsletter published by the Hungary-Romania Cross-Border Co-operation Programme. The newsletter brings you the latest news and information about results, project presentations, upcoming events and interest facts of cross-border cities Arad and Békéscsaba. One purpose of this newsletter is to help you get better informed and raise your attention to the programme’s territory and your interest for your next Call for Proposal. We hope you will find it informative and entertaining, and we welcome your comments.

The sixth meeting of the Joint Steering Committee was held in Szeged, (Hungary) on 27–28 July 2010. Representatives from Hungary and Romania made decisions on the 280 project applications which have been received during the third Call for Proposals.
The Association for Business Promotion (APPAR) in Romania made a goal out of increasing and developing the economic potential of Săcuieni area.
The journalists, radio and television broadcasting professionals from Csongrád and Timiş counties work in close cooperation to implement a media project within the Hungary–Romania Cross-Border Cooperation Programme.
This project aims at promoting labour market integration of Roma people in the Bihor–Hajdú-Bihar Euroregion. So far the competencies and skills of around 300 Roma persons from both sides of the border have been successfully tested.

Our journey through the programme area continues. In this issue we made a quick stop in the Municipality of Arad and Békéscsaba with the aim to get better acquainted with their cultural and tourist attractions and to give you an incentive to follow our example and visit the two cities.
