The Village In Satu Mare – Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg Region- Past, present and joint future

SAMCULT is a project with very similar objectives, both in theme and especially as interest, to those of the communities from the area of the Romanian-Hungarian border area.

Among the many common traditions and customs of the two counties (Satu Mare and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg), undoubtedly eating habits raise a lot interest: anthropological, culinary and, why not, touristically. In both communities eating habits hold an important role; and regardless of their nationality, ethnical background or religious views, the people whom we met during our fieldwork, expressed their desire to get involved in this type of activities.

The active part of the project consists in cooking various and specific recipes that are specific to the communities involved, each time offering a very good opportunity for celebration, the consolidation  of friendships, or for the exchange of recipes and impressions from everyday life.

Our joint experiences will be published in the civilization and culture magazine, which will be one of the results of the field research. Besides the magazine, the project team aims to develop an anthropological documentary film about, of course, eating habits.

The objectives, especially the results/outcomes of SAMCULT project address the first place the communities of the two neighboring counties and the two countries, nonetheless there is no doubt that these result will be shared Europewide, in order to present the simple and natural way in which these communities live and work, cook and capitalize common traditions.
