Project title:
According to our vision the common system of epidemiological surveillance will significantly improve health security of the border region, and will reduce the possibility of diseases and infections. In Romania this is currently only provided by law, but the reporting system established is not functioning well due to the laxity of reporting, whilst in Hungary the reporting sytem is still done with the use of postcards, which is not secure enough and quite slow. The foundations of a common web-based system is laid down by a previous INTERREG project, but it is not geographically, neither technically able to provide complete data. The system displays only those data that are already received in the traditional way. The key to reduce the chances of the formation of regional epidemics is the rapid data transmission. Therefore, this project aims to develop a joint web-based system, that could substitute the postcards in Hungary, and could form the basis of a national epidemiological surveillance system in Romania.
The common system will be compatible with the EU standards as well. Both the methodology and the preventive work are different in the two countries because of differences in the epidemiological surveillance system. Knowledge transfer and the common IT development will result an international information system ensuring European public health. The joint surveillance and monitoring network is based on a common professional workforce, whose skills are developed in parallel. This will result the elimination of regional inequalities, and forms an added value is a plus.
