The aim of the project was to improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment of infertility by facilitating cross-border exchange of professional know-how. Endoscopic procedures are currently indispensable in diagnosing and treating infertility, which is an increasingly common problem in both Csongrád (HU) and Timiş (RO) counties. As part of the project, workshops and surgical demonstrations were organized first in Timişoara at the Dr. D. Popescu Clinical Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and then in Szeged, at the Faculty of Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department with the participation of a joint team of experts. Thanks to this specialised training, the medical personnel working on both sides of the border acquired a solid knowledge base that can be put to further use for the benefit of infertile patients. In order to assure the necessary conditions for the workshops and demonstrations, both hospitals received modern endoscopic equipment indispensable for performing this type of procedures with a higher success rate. The direct beneficiaries of the project consisted of 40 members of the medical personnel (20 from the University of Szeged, Faculty of Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department and 20 from the Dr. D. Popescu Clinical Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Timişoara); the two medical institutions; at least 27 patients who, thanks to the dedication of the joint team of experts, underwent infertility treatments free of charge. The first "HURO baby" was born in 2013, on the second day of Christmas.
